Bank offers free Internet access at public places Thuy Trieu By Thuy Trieu – The Saigon Times Daily HCMC – Residents in HCMC, Hanoi, Nha Trang and Danang can get free Internet access provided by Nam A Bank at public places such as parks, cultural houses and squares. The free Wifi program started early this year, with 15 locations in the four cities installed with Wifi hotspots so far. Tran Ngoc Tam, deputy general director of Nam A Bank, said that there would be five more public places in HCMC and Hanoi to have free Wifi towards the Lunar New Year holiday. In these places, users can search for the Wifi signal of Nam A Bank, log in by providing email address and phone number to obtain Wifi passwords. According to Tam, the program’s cost is not much but the maintenance work is not simple. However, the banks will make use of its information technology staff to manage and maintain the Wifi hotspots. Regarding the effectiveness of the program, according to Tam, the bank has built up a large information database of individuals, which is useful for the bank in becoming a retail bank.
