Annual Report Awards 2012 for 50 firms By Phuong Thao – The Saigon Times Daily HCMC – Some 50 listed companies were honored at the Annual Report Awards 2012 presentation ceremony last Saturday, which was co-organized by the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE), Dau tu Chung khoan newspaper and fund manager Dragon Capital. The award has been organized for the fifth straight year with an aim to encourage listed firms to improve professional standards and raise transparency in building annual reports. Among 50 winning reports, there were 39 reports of companies listed on HOSE and 11 ones from the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX). They were chosen from 111 finalists out of over 700 reports from the two exchanges. According to the selection board, listed enterprises had improved the quality of their annual reports compared to previous years. Statistics of HOSE and HNX showed that the number of on-time reports in 2012 surged by 62% against the previous year while the percentage of reports qualified for the final round was 17.8% compared to 13% in 2010. Among the top 10 reports with highest scores, the report of Bao Viet Holdings Company was granted with the special award. Some 15 firms winning the title for many consecutive years also received certificates of merit. Organizers have plans to add social and environmental responsibilities into the selection criteria for the sixth award, which is expected to begin next March.
