On May 26th, President of the Republic of Korea (RoK), Park Geun-hye called for the National Assembly’s cooperation in approving her nomination of Hwand Kyo-ahn as Prime Minister (PM). President, Park Geun-hye’s nomination of Hwang Kyo-ahn comes a month after former PM, Lee Wan-koo resigned on April 9th after serving only two months. Park Geun-hye called Mr. Hwang “the right man” to achieve political reforms. The first PM of the RoK, Chung Hong-won, resigned after criticisms of his handling of the Sewol ferry disaster with the loss of 304 lives, most of them students on a school trip.
