NDO – The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee announced its decision to set up seven advisory councils at the second meeting of the Presidium of the VFF in Hanoi on April 6.
Accordingly, advisory councils on science, education and the environment; culture and society; democracy and law; foreign affairs and overseas Vietnamese; religious affairs; ethnic minority affairs and economics will be established.
Regarding orientations and activities of the advisory councils for 2015 and the following years, Politburo member and VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan emphasised that the Advisory Council on Science, Education and Environment will consult with the VFF on the draft documents of the 12th National Party Congress, and will comment on a number of draft laws and other contents as required.
The Ethnic Minority Affairs Council will assist the VFF in supervision and social criticism activities related to the implementation of the Government’s Decision No.775/QD-TTg on approving policies to support productive land, residential land, clean water and housing for poor ethnic minority households in difficult communes and villages for the 2013-2015 period.
The Advisory Council on Religious Affairs will help the VFF assess the implementation of the Ordinance on Religion and Belief. It will also consult on the building of the Politburo’s plan on strengthening the unity of religions in Vietnam today, and the report on reviewing the 10 years of implementation of the Resolution on religious affairs in the VFF system of the 11th Party Central Committee’s 7th meeting.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Council on Culture and Society will be involved in monitoring the national target programme on sustainable poverty reduction and building new-style rural areas for the 2010-2015 period, and monitoring the implementation of laws on food safety, among others.
