(VOVworld) – Vietnam and Hong Kong Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China have signed a supplementary protocol to an agreement on preventing double taxation and fiscal evasion of income tax.
Deputy Minister of Finance Do Hoang Anh Tuan and Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Professor K.C. Chan signed this additional protocol on Monday to update the article of information exchange to those stated in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) 2004 version. It requires the contracting parties to exchange information upon request even when there is no involvement of tax issues. The protocol will take effect after it is approved and informed to each other by both sides.
Vietnam and Egypt have signed agreements on avoiding double taxation, fighting tax evasion and boosting cooperation in tourism. These agreements were signed during a visit to Egypt by a Vietnamese inter-ministry delegation led by Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen, from Mar. 4-9. The two sides also inked two Memoranda of Understanding on a bilateral information-culture cooperation program in the 2005-2010 period and a fair-exhibition cooperation program to promote bilateral trade and investment. The deals were signed in presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Chief of Hong Kong Special Administration Region Tsang Yum-Kuen, the government of Vietnam said on its website. Dung and Tsang Yum-Kuen also witnessed signed of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Hong Kong Education Bureau. Vietnam and Hong Kong (China) signed a protocol supplementing an agreement on double taxation avoidance in Hong Kong on January 13. The supplemented document upgraded an article on information exchange in the agreement, under which the two sides have to exchange information upon request, even if it does not relate to a tax matter. Hong Kong and Vietnam on Tuesday signed an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion on tax and income. Nhan Dan Online - The General Department of Customs of Vietnam (GDC) and the Customs and Excise Department of Hong Kong signed an agreement yesterday to enhance co-operation between the two agencies.
