(VOV) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his delegation arrived in Cambodia’s capital city of Phnom Penh on January 12 for their three-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Right after his arrival, PM Dung cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new Vietnamese Embassy headquarters in Cambodia and met with embassy staff and Vietnamese community representatives.
He praised embassy staff’s efforts in overcoming difficulties to fulfill all tasks as a contribution to developing the time-honoured friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The Vietnamese Party and State are always ready to support Cambodia in maintaining peace, stability and national reconciliation for prosperity and stronger tries of friendship with Vietnam and other nations, Dung said.
The Government leader praised Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia for their great contributions to such fields as aviation, banking, telecommunications and rubber plantation.
Dung suggested them should finalize legal procedures, comply with law, grasp customs and maintain good relations with the people and authorities of the resident country to deepen mutual understanding.
Meeting with overseas Vietnamese representatives, Dung affirmed the Party and State’s acknowledgement of the Vietnamese community abroad as an indispensable part of the nation and an important factor behind the promotion of the friendship between Vietnam and other countries including Cambodia.
He also called on them to reinforce solidarity and offer mutual support to boost integration to the country of residence and contribute more to the homeland.
Dung asked the Vietnamese Embassy to coordinate with Cambodian relevant agencies to ensure Vietnamese residents’ legal status thus facilitating their working and living conditions.
As planned, PM Dung is due to attend an inaugural ceremony of Cho Ray-Phnom Penh hospital and co-host the fourth Vietnam-Cambodia Investment and Trade Promotion Conference along with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen.
