(VOVworld)- Russia and Belarus on Wednesday signed a series of cooperation agreements within the framework of the alliance led by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.
Agreements signed included “Military technology cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus until 2020”, “Cooperation to ensure international information security”, and an agreement to “Improve cooperation on fighting corruption”. The two also approved 14 other documents related to the 2014 budget of 162 million USD, the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation in 2014, the 70th anniversary of Anti-fascist Victory Day in 2015 and a foreign policy action plan for 2014-2015.
Vietnam and Russia have seen a rapid development in bilateral relations in recent years, with their comprehensive strategic partnership growing deeply and effectively in a number of fields. Vietnam considers Russia a priority in its external policy. Vietnam’s position in Russia ’s external policy in turn has improved remarkably, becoming an important strategic partner in the Asian-Pacific region and the prime partner in Southeast Asia . The national news agency of Belarus, BelTA, on November 26 praised the Vietnam-Belarus traditional relationship and hailed the outcomes of the talks between Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during the former’s visit to the country. The agency quoted President Lukashenko as saying that Belarus considers developing ties with Vietnam one of the priorities in its foreign policy in Asia and wishes to bring bilateral relations to a new level of development. Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan are entering into negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) with Vietnam, according to Viktor Khristenko, head of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC). Khristenko made the announcement during a meeting with outgoing Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Moscow on April 20, Vietnam News Agency reported. The EAEC prioritises FTA negotiations with a number of countries, including Vietnam, Khristenko told Putin. Vietnamese Television (VTV) and the Russia Today television channel (RT) on Sept. 22 signed an agreement on exchange of TV programmes, experts, professional skills and other relevant fields.
