(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is hosting a mid-autumn Southeast Asian Cultural Festival on the weekends.
Festival goers will also have an opportunity to take part in a wide range of folk games from Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Malaysia and learn how to make folk toys, Moon cakes, and young sticky rice cakes, prepare a mid-autumn feast, and listen to children’s folk songs. The Malaysian Department of Tourism Promotion will introduce tours to Malaysia and offer attractive discount for those who book tours at the festival.

(CPV) - One of the main tasks of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in 2008 is to prepare for the exhibition on Southeast Asian cultures, including collecting objects and documents in Myanmar, Brunei and Singapore, and preparing the texts for displays and the lighting system. The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP) carrying 329 delegates from 10 ASEAN countries and Japan arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on November 14. Delegates will spend three-days in the City and join activities such as a meeting with municipal leaders, cultural exchanges with local youth, visits to museums, taking part in exhibition on the ship's voyages and experience home-stays. As many of 47 artworks by 22 painters from three Southeast Asian nations, including Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, are on display at a water colour exhibition which opened at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi on April 1st.This is the first water color exhibition ever takes place in Vietnam for artists from those 3 countries. The Southeast Asian Food Festival opened on May 4 in Bangkok, highlighting national cuisines of various countries in the region. The event is sponsored by the Novotel Group, which operates hotels and resorts in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Two Vietnamese chefs participating in the festival are Tran Thi Thu Cuc and Do Van Su, who are from in the Novotel Phan Thiet Ocean and Golf Resort. Students from four Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand joined a cultural exchange programme in Ho Chi Minh City on April 12. The programme aims to mark the traditional new-year festivals of Vietnam's three neighbouring countries including many art performances by students. A ship carrying young Southeast Asians will stop at the Ho Chi Minh City Port from November 14 to 17 to begin their annual voyage of solidarity to regional countries. The Nippon Maru, with 330 young delegates of the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program on board, will depart on November 7 for Vietnam from Japan, where they have engaged in a summit for young leaders, organized a cultural exhibition and musical performance, and attended a homestay program since October 27.
