President Truong Tan Sang received Chea Leang, National Co-Prosecutor at the Office of Co-Prosecutors under the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), in Hanoi on September 4.
At the reception, President Sang spoke highly of the co-operation between the Office of Co-Prosecutors and the Vietnam Supreme People’s Procuracy.
He suggested the two sides intensify multi-faceted co-operation, especially in transnational crime prevention and judicial support.
Vietnam is actively implementing judicial reform and raising the quality of personnel training, he said, adding that with its experience Vietnam can hold regular exchanges and strengthen co-operation and mutual support with the Cambodian side.
Congratulating Vietnam on its 68th National Day, Chea Leang, who is also Prosecutor General of the Cambodian Supreme Court, thanked the Vietnamese State and people’s procuracy sector for their assistance to Cambodia over the past years.
She stated that, based on their traditional relationship, the two procuracy sectors have maintained and fostered co-operation in many fields, working towards a strong and transparent judiciary and serving the two countries’ socio-economic development.
The Cambodian guest said she hopes the two countries’ commitments on judicial support will be realised and that the two sides will increase delegation exchanges and experience sharing in order to improve staff capacity.
She expressed her wish that Vietnam become an official member of the International Association of Prosecutors.
