Ly Son District People’s Committee has recently been approved to receive 500,000 Japanese yen grant funded by Pacific- Asian Women’s Association to improve water resource and environment in the island district.
The Women’s Association is founded by ladies, politicians and diplomats who are working and living in Japan. The Association has so far organized a variety of significant activities including charitable fair which is considered the largest scope to attract thousands of visitors each year for charitable fundraising purposes for developing countries including Vietnam.
Its beautiful landscape and numerous historical and cultural relic sites asserting Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty attract plenty of visitors. Ly Son island is accessible by speedboat from Sa Ky port. Many visitors have complained about the environmental fees which may be charged at a cave on Ly Son Island off the central province of Quang Ngai. Visitors to the island may be charged VND20,000 (USD0.48) when visiting Cau Cave on Ly Son Island. Nguyen Thi Minh, a resident on the island, said that around a week ago, some people came to Cau Cave area to clean the beach and then set up a fence. A national flagpole looking towards Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago in the East Sea was inaugurated on Ly Son island off central Quang Nam province on Monday. The 20m flagpole was built at a cost of VND850 million (around US$40,000), of which VND700 million was granted by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam. The study was proposed by the Viet Nam Infrastructure Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (VIID) in a document dated March 13, 2017.
