HA NOI (VNS)—Ha Noi and HCM City are among the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia for young people from England because of the low prices of hotels and services.
Other favourite destinations are Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia and Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand.
According to a global survey on hotel prices by hotels.com, Phnom Penh has the lowest hotel cost: 35 pounds (US$ 56) per night against 180 pounds ($288) per night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ha Noi follows with 41 pounds a night and HCM City ranks sixth with 60 pounds a night.- VNS.

HA NOI (VNS) — Crowded morning wholesale areas in Ha Noi and HCM City are usually accompanied with overloaded, dilapidated motorbikes that surprise new-comers to the two cities and haunt locals. HCM CITY (VNS)— Duo d'Accord from Germany will present a piano concert to open the annual European Music Festival in Viet Nam in Ha Noi on Thursday. The Viet Nam Railway Corporation will increase the price of tickets by 7 per cent on the Thong Nhat Express (Reunification Express) which runs between the cities of Ha Noi and HCM City beginning from May 25 due to higher fuel and electricity costs, according to Nguyen Van Thanh, deputy director of HCM City's Railway Station. The US-based Institute of International Education (IIE) will organise an American Education Exhibition in Ha Noi and HCM City on March 9 and 11, respectively, to promote educational exchanges between the two countries. HA NOI (VNS) — The consumer price index (CPI) in the country's two largest cities of Ha Noi and HCM City in March declined against the previous month due to low demand. According to Ha Noi's Statistics Office, March's CPI in the capital dropped 0.15 per cent over February. However, the index rose 5.99 per cent year on year. The Government is considering a proposal for Ha Noi and HCM City to set their own traffic fines, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said in a conference on Tuesday. At the conference, the two cities, which are both plagued with traffic problems, made separate proposals to the government for permission to set higher traffic fines than other localities to reduce the number of road violations.
