Nhan Dan Online – Lao President Chummaly Saynhasone has received an honourary doctorate from a Vietnamese university in recognition of his outstanding contributions to co-operation between the two Parties and States.
Politburo member To Huy Rua, who is also the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, attended the August 28 ceremony, which was jointly held by Vietnam National Economics University (VNEU) and the Lao Presidential Office in Vientiane.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Chummaly Saynhasone thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people for their support and assistance in recent years. He also expressed his pride in receiving such an honour from one of the leading universities of Vietnam.
The title is not only a personal accolade, but also a vivid manifestation of the special friendship and solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples.
Since 1963, VNEU has been assigned by the Party and State to assist and co-operate with Laos in training human resources, contributing to the traditional friendship and comprehensive, long-lasting co-operation between the two countries.
