The visit aimed to boost bilateral cooperation and exchange views on the operational model of the Cuban NA Committees’ operational model.
During their meeting with Yolanda Ferrer, Chairwoman of the Cuba NA External Relations Committee, the Vietnamese guests were briefed on the Cuban NA’s organizational structure and operational model as well as the results of the 13th legislature’ first session which shows Cuba’s determination to successfully implement a roadmap for updating an economic model to ensure the country’s sustainable and prosperous development.
For his part, Quoc Hien told the host about Vietnam’s socio-economic situation in recent years and significant landmarks in the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.
Later the Vietnamese head delegate was received by Grisel Alfonso, President of the Cuba NA Committee for Economic Affairs who dwelled on public financial supervision, budget management and legal documentation.
He was also received by Gladys Bejerano Portela Vice President of the Cuba Council of State who is also Controller General.
Portela said the Cuba Controller General’s Office was established in mid 2009 with the aim of enhancing State supervisory role in managing public finance and combating corruption.
The Cuban Vice President praised Vietnam’s experience in improving the organizational structure and the NA and State agencies’ role in controlling national budget and assets.
During its stay, the Vietnamese delegation worked with some Cuban ministries and made a fact-finding tour of Artemisa province in the southwestern capital city of Havana.
