Addressing the event as aspecial guest, she cited that many women are successful leaders in manycountries, international organisations, economic corporations andbusinesses.
The Vice President spoke highly of thetheme of this year’s event, “Women: Creating New Economies”, especiallyin the context that numerous countries are striving to restructure theireconomies to improve efficiency for sustainable development andoptimise resources.
She went through Vietnam’seconomic development achievements over the past years, and sharedVietnam’s policies and practical experience in promoting the role ofwomen in creating new and more sustainable economies, especially whenthe country is prioritising economic restructuring, macro-economicstabilising and shifting the economic development model to a sustainableand green one.
Many Vietnamese businesswomen arepioneers in a number of new economic sectors and have made significantcontributions to the country’s sustainable development process, shenoted.
Vice President Doan asked all countries toestablish legal frameworks, institutions and policies to ensure genderequality, especially equal access to opportunities.
She also called upon social organisations and the community to increasesupport for women in order to change public awareness and remove allobstacles faced by women, helping women maximise their role.
She expressed her hope that after the summit, state and governmentleaders will exert greater effort to create more favourable conditionsfor women at home and work, enabling them to make larger contributionsto the creation of new economies.
This year’s eventdrew the participation of more than 1,100 delegates, including nationalleaders and spouses of state leaders and world economic giants.Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak attended and delivered aspeech at the summit.-VNA
