The award was launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the United Nations Volunteer Program to celebrate the Union’s 10th National Congress and International Volunteer Day on December 5. Vu Manh Ha, Dean of the Ophthalmology Department of Ha Giang General Hospital, won the prize for providing medical check-ups and free drugs to ethnic minorities. Ha told VOV: Youth’s spirit has given me the enthusiasm for volunteer activities and the desire to contribute to the community. I and other doctors go every weekend to disadvantaged areas to provide health check-ups and consultations to ethnic people there. I find it meaningful helping others. The award has encouraged youngsters to uphold the creativity and the vanguard role in social security activities, contributing to national construction and defense.
