NINH THUAN (vVNS)— A bus accident left 14 people injured after the brakes failed and it plunged into a deep ravine in the central province of Ninh Thuan yesterday morning.
The victims, five of whom were in a serious condition, were sent to Ninh Son District’s General Hospital for treatment.
District police said that the accident occurred while the bus was travelling from the Central Highland province of Lam Dong to Ninh Thuan, when the bus plunged into a 15m ravine.
Authorities have paid VND5 million (US$240) to the five seriously-injured victims and VND500,000 ($23) to the rest.-VNS

KON TUM — A 52-seat bus plunged 30 metres into a gully in Lo Xo pass in the Central Highlands' Kon Tum Province's Dakglei District when its brakes failed on Thursday. The accident left 13 passengers injured, one of them critically. The bus was carrying 49 passengers who were returning to their homes in the central provinces to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
