The opening ceremony will be held on May 11, 2013 to mark the 58th liberation anniversary of Haiphong City.
A wide range of cultural, art, sport, tourism and trade events will take place during the whole year in Hanoi, Haiphong, Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Bac Giang provinces.
Some 20 major events will take place during the National Tourism Year 2013, including three main events: Opening ceremony, Flamboyant Festival, and Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival. Other Delta provinces and cities will host 17 events.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it will work with relevant ministries and agencies to organise cultural and sporting activities like nationwide photography contest, Judo championship, delta culinary festival, film week, beach volleyball championship, popular arts performances, traditional Cheo singing festival, youth football tournament, export trade fair, and many others.
Haiphong People’s Committee – the governing body – said the city is currently actively preparing and investing infrastructure, creating tourism products, seeking funding sources, etc for the National Tourism Year 2013.
