A handball tournament for men’s and women’s clubs across the country began at Lanh Binh Thang competition house in HCM City on April 22.
Thirteen teams, including five women’s, from Hanoi, HCM City and Ha Giang province are competing for medals from April 22-27.
The annual event is part of the official competition system of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training to assess the handball movement and player skills.
Best players will be selected for the national handball team to take part in regional and international events.
In last year’s event, the championship titles went to Hanoi’s men’s team and HCM City’s women’s team.

National Focus (20-03-2007) Mini hardcourt tourney begins A launching ceremony of Ha Noi's first elementary school basketball tournament, also called the Milo Cup 2007, began yesterday. According to the Viet Nam Basketball Federation and the Nhi Dong (Children's) Newspaper, 16 girl's and boy's teams will compete over the next three months to play in the finals on May 19 at the Ha Noi Gymnasium. France’s Olympique Lyonais club, runner-up at the French Championships 2014-2015, is eyeing to train and produce a team of skilled Vietnamese footballers for Ho Chi Minh City over the next 10 years. The plan was mentioned during the club’s working session with Ho Chi Minh City authorities on September 10, following a three-day field trip around the city.
