A ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic ties was held in Hanoi on January 29 by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association. Among guests were Russian Ambassador to Vietnam A. G. Kovtun, Ukrainian Ambassador Ivan Dovganych, Belarusian Charge d’affairs Dmitry Kuptel and Vietnamese officials. Vietnam’s Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong and the Russian Ambassador took the occasion to recall great landmarks in the history of diplomatic ties between the two countries, saying that they are pleased with their fine development in all fields over the past 60 years. The Vietnam-Russia relationship has continuously developed despite the world’s ups and downs and Vietnam always attaches much importance to strengthening its traditional relations and comprehensive cooperation with Russia, said Deputy PM Trong. For his part, A. G. Kovtun stressed that Vietnam and Russia are trusted friends and strategic partners on the way to boosting bilateral ties to a new height for their mutual benefit, contributing to regional and global peace. On the occasion, Vietnamese and Russian artists and children staged a performance to spotlight the Vietnam-Russia friendship./.
