A project to build a radio-television station in the northern Lao province of Louangphabang got underway on January 8. The VND57.2 billion project will have a 110m antenna tower, a 5kw TV-transmitter and a 10kw FM transmitter built on an area of 11,628m2. The funding has been sourced from the Vietnamese government’s non-refundable aid for Lao in the 2006-2010 period. The project is scheduled to finish in June this year. Vietnam has previously helped Lao to build a similar station in the southern province of Champasak.
