On this occasion, a correspondent from the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper interviewed vice chairman of the Tuyen Quang provincial People’s Committee about its tourism.
* Can you give a little information about tourism potentials of the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang?
Tuyen Quang has potentials of diversified and attractive tourism, meeting the demands of many kinds of tourism such as cultural and revolutionary historical tourism and ecotourism.
There are many revolutionary historical relics such as Tan Trao historical site – a resistance capital associated with revolutionary activities of President Ho Chi Minh in the struggle against French colonialists; Kim Binh historical relics where the second National Party Congress was held from February 11-19, 1951; Kim Quan – Yen Son historical relics; and other cultural and architectural relics such as Mac dynasty’s citadel, which was recognised as a national cultural and historical relic.

Lo and Gam, the two big rivers, pass through ranges of mountains and villages, creating conditions to promote waterway tourism. Especially, a Tuyen Quang hydroelectric lake with a water surface area of 8,000 ha, which is next to Ba Be lake in Bac Kan province, has imposing natural scenery and diversified ecosystem.
My Lam mineral spring in Yen Son district has a source of hot water up to 62C. The province’s forest also has diverse plants and animals.
In addition, 22 ethnic groups living in the province have created a specific culture. Each ethnic group has its own characteristics such as songs, clothes and customs. After Tet Nguyen Dan holidays, folk festivals imbued with cultural identity of ethnic groups are often held.
* However, in fact, the province has not developed tourism corresponding with its potentials. What do you think about this?
Over the past years, tourism in the province has developed. But there are some shortcomings: Infrastructure and facilities have not received synchronous investment to take advantage of its potentials.
