HCM CITY — HCM City authorities have recognised 11 products as key industrial products.
The products were chosen from among 43 products of 35 businesses eligible for consideration over the past two years, said the HCM City People’s Committee.
Designation of the products was based on performance of the products, such as annual revenue they generate, profitability, and export growth rate. Also considered was whether the companies used technological standards in production, registered the trademarks for their key industrial products, applied international and national management, production and business standards, and followed environmental and labour policies.
The key products include electric cables and wires made by the Tan Cuong Thanh Ltd Co, stainless steel pipe of the Huu Lien A Chau Joint Stock Co, garments of the Viet Tien Garment Co, buses and specialised vehicles of the Sai Gon Mechanical Transport Corporation (Samco), and electric wires and cables of Viet Nam Electric Lines and Cables Co (Cadivi).
Certificates were also granted to the instant noodles of Acecook Viet Nam, soybean milk and canned soft drinks of the Sai Gon Soft Drink Joint Stock Co (Tribeco), multi-layer packaging of Liksin, natural rubber mattresses of Sai Gon-Kymdan Co, motorbike and auto tires and tubes of the South Rubber Industrial Company (Casumina), and wooden interior decor items of Savimex.
All companies that earned the key industrial products designation, said the People’s Committee, have average revenue of VND300-VND1,500 billion (US$19-95 million), a large part of which comes from the key products.
People’s Committee deputy chairman Nguyen Thien Nhan said that authorities expect the companies to further plan for integration of their key industrial products into the international market.
The Key Industrial Products Development Programme was initiated in 2002.
