Hosts Vietnam beat Australia 3-0 in the opening match of the International Women's Volleyball Tournament VTV Cup in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak on August 15. Vietnam played on attack with spikers Nguyen Ngoc Hoa, Bui Thi Hue, Dinh Thi Dieu Chau and libero Ta Dieu Linh dominating their opponents, 25-16, 25-14, 25-10. Bac Ninh to host VTV int’l women’s volleyball tourney

(VOV) - Six teams, including five from overseas, will compete in a much-awaited international women's volleyball tournament (VTV Cup) in Bac Ninh province from May 17-24. The foreign teams are from Thailand, Australia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, and Yunnan of China. The six teams will play in a round-robin format to select four teams to the semi-finals to vie for first prize worth US$10,000. In Group A, Vietinbank trounced Yang Sang rivals from the Republic of Korea with a 3-2 score after five sets. The same day, China's Jiangsu club easily thrashed their host team, the Pacific Petro Construction and Installation Corporation (PPC), 3-0. VTV Cup 2008 to kick off

PANO - The International Women's Volleyball Tournament - VTV Cup 2008 will be held in Can Tho from September 7th to 14th. The forthcoming event will draw the participation of six teams from North Korea, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Australia and Vietnam. The teams will play a round robin tournament to select the four semifinalists. A USD 5,000 first prize will go to the champion, a USD 3,000 second prize to the first runner-up, a USD 2,000 third prize to the second runner-up, and a USD 1,000 for fourth place. Vinh Phuc to host Women’s Grand Prix

Vietnam will host a group of the World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix in northern Vinh Phuc province's Gymnasium on June 26-29. The Vietnam Volleyball Federation made the announcement after meeting with the Asian Volleyball Conference (AVC) chairman of the Sports Events Council, Shanrit Nongprasert, in March. According to the schedule, four teams - Brazil , Turkey , Kazakhstan and Germany - will compete in group B to be hosted by Vietnam for the first time. Brazil will meet Kazakhstan , while Germany will face Turkey in the opening matches on June 26. The organising committee will hold a press conference in Hanoi to discuss details of the tournament on June 20. Viet Nam's women's volleyball team will face Indonesian in the opener of the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championships-VTV Cup, in northern Vinh Phuc province on June 16, according to the results of a draw in Ha Noi on Feb. 7. This year's tournament will also include teams from China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Thailand and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) competing in a round robin for the championship. The draw matched Thailand, and DPRK in the first match, with China playing Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan taking on Japan.
