Vietnam's sepak takraw women's team finished second at the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) Super Series after losing to Thailand 9-15, 9-15, 13-15 in Singapore on May 6. Vietnam finish third at ISTAF champs The Thai team easily took a two-set lead and only faced difficulties in the third set, when Vietnam led 13-11. Viet Nam finish third at ISTAF Super Series

The national women's sepak takraw team beat hosts Indonesia 3-1 (15-12, 12-15, 15-12, 15-12) to take third place at the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) Super Series yesterday. After Indonesia levelled the match in the second set, player Lai Thi Huyen Trang was replaced by teammate Cao Thi Hai Yen. The latter used her height and windmill serves to help the team overcome Indonesia, who had prevailed against Viet Nam 3-1 in the qualifying round. However, the Vietnamese victory saw the team solidify their third place ranking in the ISTAF Super Series and second place in the World Rankings. Tu to fight in Asian Judo Champs For illustration only. Van Ngoc Tu will compete at the Asian Judo Championships to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from April 26-29. The Vietnamese athlete will not only defend her bronze medal pocketed here last year, but also hopes to score a higher result in the women's Under-48kg category. Tu, the only Vietnamese judoka at present to earn a London Olympics berth, will have to face strong rivals from Japan, South Korea and China. International women's cycling tourney opens in Binh Duong The fourth International Women's Cycling Tournament (Biwase Cup 2014) kicked off in the southern province of Binh Duong on March 7. The event attracted 70 cyclists from 11 local teams and three teams from Japan, Thailand and Malaysia. The annual tournament aims to provide local cyclists with a good opportunity to hone their professional skills and gain experience from foreign competitors in preparation for regional and international competitions. Nguyen Thi That from the Vinh Binh An Giang Rice team won the 105-km first stage from Binh Duong to the Xuan Loc district of Dong Nai province on the same day, with a time of 3:18:53. HANOI (VNS) (VNS)— Vietnamese women defeated Myanmar 2-0 in the qualifying round of International Sepak Takraw Federation Super Series Grand Finals currently being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the second match, Myanmar beat South Korea 2-0. Viet Nam now needs to beat South Korea to maintain their top position in group B. The third round of the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) Super Series 2013 will kick off today in Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. In the women's category, Viet Nam will participate alongside five competitors separated into two three-team groups. Group A will feature Viet Nam, South Korea and hosts Malaysia, while Japan, Indonesia and defending champion Thailand will compete in group B. Women footballers train in the RoK The national women's football squad left for Busan, the Republic of Korea, on August 27 beginning a two-week training course in preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Women's Championship. Chief coach Chen Yun Fat selected the best 20 girls for the national line-up who will then play at the AFF Cup in Myanmar's Madalay capital from September 7-23. Vietnam will play in the same group with U19 Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Jordan. After the 2013 AFF Cup, they aim to defend their Southeast Asian championship title at the 27th SEA Games to be held in Myanmar later this year. Their biggest challenge is finishing fifth at the Asian Women's Football Championship scheduled for HCM City in 2014. If they meet that goal, they will earn a ticket to the 2014 World Cup in Canada - a long awaited dream.
