Litchis planted in accordance with VietGAP process higher priced

The lychees in the region of production according to VietGAP are harvested. The price is VND15,000-16,000/kg, VND3,000-4,000/kg higher than the previous year. The Region I Center for Quality of Agricultural Forestry, Fishery Products certified 100 lychee producing households in Thanh Ha (52 in Thanh Son commune, 48 in Thanh Khe commune) to meet VietGAP standards in 2013 with a scale of 13.24 ha on the morning of 12 June. This is a group out of 361 households participating in the Project "Construction and development of Thanh Ha lychee production model with food safety assurance in conformity with VietGAP process". This year litchi season, Thanh Ha has over 37 hectares planted in compliance with VietGAP process, including Thanh Son (17 ha), Thanh Khe (20 ha). Individuals, not police force, to pay damage to fishermen

The Hai Duong Province Police Department has paid VND650 million (US$31,250) in damages to fishermen in Ho Chi Minh in relation to the seizure of an octopus shipment, and are identifying specific individuals who will have to bear the payment. Colonel Cao Ngoc Lan, deputy director of the department, told Tuoi Tre on Wednesday afternoon that after reaching an agreement on the amount of compensation, the department borrowed the money from an acquaintance, who is a native of Hai Duong but is living in HCMC, to make the payment. The department sympathized with the suffering of the affected fishermen, so it decided to borrow money to make the payment as soon as possible, Lan said. ​A 64 slice computed tomography (CT) scanner has been put into operation in Quang Ngai provincial General Hospital on June 12. ​The American technological scanner worth 23 billion VND (around 1 million USD) is the first one in this central province to be expected to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment in the hospital, especially some complicated diseases of heart, brain, blood vessel and rib-cage. This technology increases both "spatial" and "temporal" resolution for more detailed images to be created in a shorter amount of time. New Ho Chi Minh statue to be erected in Vietnam metro

Hitachi gets $373 million Vietnam railway order

Hitachi Ltd has received an order to build Vietnam's first urban railway in Ho Chi Minh city for 37 billion yen ($373.2 million), the Japanese infrastructure company said on Tuesday. On May 22, the massive power outage in over 22 provinces of the South of Vietnam caused major economic losses and raised social concerns. (CPV) - A concert by Vietnamese musicians of the Youth Chamber Orchestra SEAYCO will be held at 20h00, on June 16 at Goethe-Institut Hanoi (56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc street). In August last year, South East Asian Youth Chamber Orchestra SEAYCO was founded on mutual initiative of the Goethe-Institut Southeast Asia and prestigious Mahidol College of Music in Salaya (Thailand). After numerous castings, 25 musical talents from six different countries were chosen: Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia. After three weeks of intensive rehearsal work in October in Salaya under the direction of Nicolás Pasquet, professor at the Liszt School of Music Weimar (Germany), SEAYCO played its first concerts in Thailand and Myanmar.
