An exhibition of historical evidence about Hoang Sa and Truong Sa

On 9th July, at VietnamMilitaryHistoryMuseum in Hanoi, Ministry of Information and Communication will open the large-scaled exhibition entitled "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa of Vietnam - The historical evidence" Right after that, the exhibition will be organized on two lanes of Hoang Sa and Hoang Sa in Ho Chi Minh city in August. Then there will be movable exhibitions in 10 other cities and provinces all over the country. 80 percents of documents used in the exhibition were donated to Da Nang city by Mr. Tran (including 2 latest maps collected by Mr. Tran Thang as above) and by Dr. Tran Duc Anh Son (collected through his research projects). The remaining 20% were collected ​​by the Ministry of Information and Communication, and 20 wood blocks related to Hoang Sa provided by National Border Committee (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). HCM City welcomes over 1.9 mln foreign arrivals in six months

Foreign arrivals to Ho Chi Minh city numbered more than 1.9 million in the first six months of this year, a year-on-year rise of 5 percent. The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Online Newspaper quoted the city's department of culture, sports and tourism as saying that so far this year, the number of foreign arrivals to the city fulfilled 47 percent of the yearly target of welcoming 4.1 million. HCM City's six-month tourism revenue reached an estimated 41 trillion VND, a year-on-year increase of 30 percent, and 50 percent of the year's target. The city is applying a value added tax refund programme for foreign tourists on purchases made in Vietnam when exiting the country through Tan Son Nhat international airport. So far, 37 businesses in the city have registered to sell goods with VAT refunds. June CPI in southern hub rises slightly


(CPV) - Ho Chi Minh city's consumer price index (CPI) in June rose 0.12 percent from the previous month and 2.78 percent from the same month last year, according to the city's statistics office. The office also reported the June figure increased 0.78 percent compared to December 2012. Among 11 commodity groups, four enjoyed CPI decline in June. They were housing, electricity, fuel and building material at 0.36 percent; transport at 0.8 percent; post-telecommunication at 0.21 percent and other commodities and services at 0.13 percent. In addition, culture, amusement and tourism group saw a sharp CPI rise at 0.57 percent, and prices of restaurant and food service soared 0.33 percent. Strengthening private sector response to improve livelihoods


(CPV) - With support from the US Government, over 1,400 Vietnamese people living with or affected by HIV (PLHIV) have found a job or realized their dream of running their own businesses. Specifically, USAID's workplace-based prevention and employment and supportive services for high-risk individuals project helped find job opportunities for PLHIV and prevent new infections among groups at risk of HIV since 2008, in cooperation with the Vietnamese government and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). The project supported around 1,200 PLHIV find stable jobs or become self-employed. In addition, as many as 220 PLHIV received over USD100,000 in loans through three Vietnamese microfinance providers: the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies; TYM, a microfinance service provider under the Vietnam Women's Union; and M7/Community Financial Resource Center. “Warmer world threatens livelihoods in South East Asia”, World Bank’s report

Indonesian contemporary art exhibition in HCM city

Blind Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii The well-known blind Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii will put on solo performances at the Hanoi Opera House on June 19 and the National Academy of Music in Ho Chi Minh city on June 21. Vietnam and US enhanced cooperation in global health security


(CPV) - US Secretary of Health and Human Services, Ms Kathleen Sebelius, on June 18 concluded a 2-day visit to Vietnam as part of an Asia-Pacific regional tour to foster international collaboration and mobilize resources to enhance global health security. The Secretary met with the Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien to sign the agreement on health and medical sciences cooperation. This agreement reflects the importance of the bilateral partnership and establishes a foundation to strengthen Vietnam's efforts to detect and effectively respond to public health emergencies, and prevent global health threats, such as avian influenza and HIV/AIDS. Vietnam’s four sites awarded “Top Destination in Asia”


TripAdvisor's "Top Destination in Asia" award was presented to Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An and Ha Long of Vietnam at a ceremony held in Singapore on June 18. Ho Chi Minh City, Brest boost multifaceted cooperation
