An online dialogue titled "Quang Ninh province - Young scientific connection" will be held on August 16 by the Quang Ninh provincial Television Station to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the province. The event will draw the participation of scientists who have made great contributions to provincial development. Prof. Dr. Tu Diep Cong Thanh, born in 1978, is Deputy Head of the Department of Mechanics, Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology, and vice president of the Vietnam Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh city. Vietbuild 2013 attracts international construction firms

Around 800 construction firms from 18 countries and territories are in attendance at the Vietbuild exhibition, the second of its kind in 2013, which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on August 14. As many as 2,160 booths showcase building materials produced by China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Germany, France, Malaysia, Vietnam and others. Local real estate firms participating in the event introduce incentives for homebuyers. During the event, the organising board will present Vtopbuild cups and medals to those enterprises with high-class products. Quang Ninh wins 4 medals at 2013 National Youth Archery Championships

(CPV) - The tournament drew the participation of 15 teams from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Bac Kan, Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh and Can Tho city.

Archers competed in men's and women's singles, doubles, and team events in the Recurve (one-string bow) and Compound (three-string bow) categories. The male athletes competed in 90m, 70m, 50m and 30m distance categories, while the women's categories included 70m, 60m, 50m and 30m. The week-long tournament, which wrapped up in Hanoi on August 10, created an opportunity to select outstanding young archers for the national team to compete at regional and international competitions. Seven athletes from Quang Ninh provincial competing and training centre have pocketed one silver medal and 3 bronze medals, in which junior Nguyen Trung Duc won his silver medal in the men's compound event (30 m distance). (CPV) - The Mekong river delta cycling tournament 2013 opens on August 12 at Ba Son shipbuilding yard, with the participation of 21 teams including the national mountain bike squad and amateur TRU cycling-Tamouh club from the US. Cyclists will compete in sections totalling over 900 km, from Ho Chi Minh city through 13 provinces and cities, ending to Long Xuyen city (An Giang province) on August 20. The event lures the best Vietnamese athletes in cycling, competing for a total of VND264 million prizes. The yellow jersey will receive VND25 million, while the blue jersey will pocket VND7 million. Despite three domestic museums being ranked by TripAdvisor as among Asia's finest, most Vietnamese exhibitions are unable to fulfil their potential and find it hard to attract visitors. Hoang Trung Hieu reports. Nguyen Thi Mai from Thanh Xuan District in Ha Noi tightened her lips and her eyes turned red as she gazed at mementoes on display at the Museum of Ethnology that reminded her of a time when the economy was subsidised by the Government and people had to live on meagre rations. Then she looked down at her calloused hands and was transported back to the days when she had to lug barrels of slops around everyday to feed the pigs she kept in her small living quarters. The squeals of the pigs transmitted over the museum's sound system seemed to magnify the memory for Mai, and the hardships most poor Vietnamese people had to endure came flooding back. The Korean Foundation will coordinate with the University of Languages and International Studies under the Vietnam National University (ULIS) to carry out a programme on Korean language teaching at the secondary level. The programme will be broadcast on VTV2 channel of Vietnam Television on August 12. There are about 2,600 students at Korean language faculties in 14 full-time universities in Vietnam. Korean is also taught in foreign language centres in major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. A Korean teaching programme at the first level was broadcast on VTV2 channel of Vietnam Television in 2012.
