PANO - The Vietnam Writers' Association, on May 13th, held a ceremony to award prizes for literary works resulting from the mobilization to write and disseminate literary and press works with the topic "Learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's moral example". The event was seen as a practical and meaningful activity to celebrate the 123rd Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19th, 1890 -2013). The organizing board agreed to give the highest prizes to two scientific research works named "Ho Chi Minh's Thought and Vietnam Communist Party in building new people and new culture" by Nguyen Trung Thu and "Seeking the origin of Ho Chi Minh's poems" by Le Xuan Duc, as well as a novel titled "Liberation" by Hoang Quang Uyen and a poetry collection titled "Uncle Ho's 79 Springs" by Nguyen Quang. Building, developing Vietnam’s progressive culture imbued with national identity

Activities to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s 123rd birthday


(VOV) - The Ho Chi Minh Museum in Ho Chi Minh city has opened an exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh's relations with the ethnic minority people to mark the anniversary of his 123rd birthday as well as the 102nd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's foreign travels to seek the path of national salvation. Source: The exhibition includes more than 80 documents and photos depicting the President presenting gifts to elderly ethnic minority people in Lao Cai in 1958, Ho Chi Minh's visit to ethnic people in the mountainous area of Pac Bo, Cao Bang in 1961, and many of his other written documents. Ho Chi Minh city to host Zhejiang Export Fair 2013

(CPV) -The 2013 Zhejiang Export Fair will be held in Vietnam's southern hub of Ho Chi Minh city from May 16 - 18 to boost investment and trade between Vietnam and the Chinese province. The fair, first organised in the city, will feature 150 pavilions from 114 leading Zhejiang businesses. Products displayed include machinery, electronics, construction materials, garments and textiles, household products and office supplies. In 2012, Zhejiang's export turnover to Vietnam reached USD2.46 billion with major export products including fabrics, materials, garments and textile products, steel and iron, and pharmaceutics. By the end of 2012, Vietnam invested 24 projects in Zhejiang with a total investment turnover of nearly USD22 million. Major investment fields included garments and textiles, chemical materials and products, and the processing field of popular devices. Ho Chi Minh city aims to reduce poverty rate to 2%


(Photo for illustration) On May 13, Ho Chi Minh city People's Council adopted the proposal of the city People's Committee on the general plan on socio-economic development until 2020 and vision to 2025. In which targets and orientations of development were worked out to ensure that the city would develop sustainably, continuing to promote its role as the centre in diverse areas of the country. According to Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, Chairwoman of the city People's Council, the city socio-economic general development plan for 1996-2010 was realised, contributing to boost socio-economic growth for the city and the whole country. In 2011-2015, the city set the target economic growth rate at 10-15% while the figure will be 9.5-10% in 2016-2020, and 8.5-9% in the next five years. Kantar Worldpanel: Vinamilk the most chosen FMCG brand in Vietnam


Vinamilk, Vietnam's leading dairy products company, is currently the most chosen fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand in the country, according to a Kantar Worldpanel study. Kantar Worldpanel Brand Footprint Ranking, issued on May 10, showed Vinamilk reaches almost every Vietnamese household, up to 94 per cent of the population, with the frequency of purchase at 27 times per year on average. This means it is chosen a total of 57 million times a year for in-home consumption, by consumers in the four key cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Danang and Can Tho. Brands ranking from second to 10th are Chinsu sauce, Hao Hao instant noodle, Dutch Lady dairy products, Tuong An cooking oil, Ngoi Sao Phuong Nam sweetened condensed milk, Oishi, Ajinomoto, Omo, and Ong Tho sweetened condensed milk. Ho Chi Minh city launches green consumer campaign

The green consumer campaign this year attracts more than 2,000 volunteers registering to participate in eight projects, of which the project "I love green products" is the focus. The project "I love green products" collects and exchanges milk cans for recycling as ecological roof material and dustbins. The organizing board will coordinate with the Hoc Mon district people's committee to install the eco-friendly roofing at Nhi Xuan primary school and place 120 of the dustbins made from milk cans at the September 23, Tao Dan and Le Van Tam parks. The world's leading fashion house Louis Vuitton continued its journey in Vietnam by opening the latest store at Hanoi's luxury shopping mall Trang Tien Plaza last week - its second in the capital and the third in the country. Party Central Committee’s seventh conference closes


The seventh conference of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee wrapped up in Hanoi on May 11.
