Vietnam, Argentina to promote educational cooperation

Argentina hopes to promote cooperation in science and technology research, healthcare services training, tropical diseases, climate change and Asia-Pacific research. This is part of what was discussed in a meeting Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan had with Daniel Filmus, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Argentine Senate; Alberto Sileoni, the country's Minister of Education and the Network of National Universities in Buenos Aires (RUNCOB). Cho Ray Vietnam-Japan Friendship Hospital to be built in HCM City

On April 24, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yasuaki Tanizaki and a delegation of Vietnamese cadres paid a working visit to Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh city, and had an exchange with leaders of the hospital concerning the construction of Cho Ray Vietnam - Japan Friendship Hospital in the city. The Ambassador said the plan on building Cho Ray Vietnam-Japan Friendship Hospital, discussed by the two countries' prime ministers earlier this year, is a meaningful project and in line with Japan's aid policy to Vietnam. Book exhibition marks Liberation Day

At the exhibition Nhan Dan Online - Thousands of books and press works are now on display at an exhibition that opened yesterday at the Hanoi Library, as part of activities to mark the World Book and Copyright Day (April 23) and the 38th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30). New Zealand navy ship visits Ho Chi Minh city

(CPV) - The Royal New Zealand navy ship, Her Majesty's New Zealand Ship (HMNZS) TE MANA with a crew of 25 officers and 102 sailors is making a five-day goodwill visit to Ho Chi Minh city from April 24 - 29. During the visit, senior officers will pay courtesy calls on navy counterparts and the local People's Committee. Outreach activities undertaken in association with the visit will include a visit to Ba Chieu home for disadvantaged and homeless girls to assist with the renovation of buildings there. HCM city CPI drops slightly in April

(Photo: saigondautu.com.vn) (CPV) - Ho Chi Minh city's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April decreased 0.33 percent from the previous month and increased 2.44 percent against the same period last year, according to the city's statistics office. The largest CPI reduction went to restaurant and food service at 1 percent from the previous month, including over a 2 percent drop in foodstuff, a more than 1 percent decrease in food and a slight decline of 0.02 percent in restaurant. In addition, groups of post and telecom, housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials saw slight reductions in price from the previous month. Some groups witnessed price fluctuation between 0.05 percent and 1.23 percent. Specifically, the transport group had a sharp rise of 1.23 percent due to impacts from the recent petrol and oil price rises. The smallest fluctuation went to education group price at 0.05 percent.
