Belgian investment in Hai Phong city recognised

Chairman of the People's Committee of the northern port city of Hai Phong Duong Anh Dien has emphasised the important role of Belgium in investment cooperation with the city. The city's official made the remark at a working session with a visiting Belgian economic delegation, led by Crown Prince Philippe, in the city on March 14. The city's Dinh Vu Industrial Zone, in which Belgian enterprises have invested, is considered an example of investment cooperation between Belgian and other partners, Dien said. He said he hoped that Belgium will continue with cooperation at a new level with Vietnam and Hai Phong city in particular, to help turn the city into a modern industrial one before 2020. The renewed tensions started after an Israeli air strike in the Golan Heights, near Syria's Quneitra border crossing with Israel, which resulted in the deaths of six Hezbollah fighters and an Iranian general on Wednesday. Following the death of Hezbollah fighters, UNIFIL mission in southern Lebanon said it had witnessed six rockets fired towards Israel from southern Lebanon and Israeli forces firing in return. UN chief calls for diplomatic solution to nuclear standoff with Iran

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon on Thursday expressed deep concern over the possible military- dimensioned nuclear program in Iran, and called for a diplomatic solution, rather than the military one, to the nuclear standoff with Iran, a UN spokesman said here. The host highlighted recent development of the relations between the two countries, noting that they worked closely at international organisations and multi forums. According to the Vietnamese official, economic cooperation between Vietnam and Uruguay has enjoyed positive results in recent years, with two-way trade hitting 120 million USD in 2014, four times higher than that in 2007. An award ceremony of a photo competition on the Vietnam-US relations and about the US took place in Hanoi on July 3. Photographer Tran Viet Dung won first prize in the politics – diplomacy category with a photo depicting US President Bill Clinton shaking hands with a Vietnamese youth on a balcony. Nguyen Khang from the Vietnam News Agency came second with a photo of US President George W. Bush playing "dan bau" (Vietnamese traditional monochord). The third prize went to a picture of Vietnamese State President Le Duc Anh talking to US war veteran Boby Muller taken by Pham Cao Phong. Nguyen Vinh Hien led the category of US culture and society, followed by Nguyen Le and Nguyen Duy Anh.
