The expatriates were invited by the Foreign Ministry’s Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs as a result of their active involvement in Vietnamese community activities abroad. PANO – August 29th 2015 marks 40 years of the existence of the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum - a symbol of the friendship between Vietnam and the former USSR. Until now, about 50 million Vietnamese people and expatriates and foreign visitors have paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum at the Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi. Vietnam News Agency’s television marks fifth anniversary

Hanoi, August 24 (VNA) – The State-run Vietnam News Agency’s Television Centre (VNews) hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on August 24 celebrating its fifth founding anniversary (August 25). Texting raises fund for dioxin victims

A major charity campaign was launched by the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (AO)/ Dioxin (VAVA) on August 4 in Hanoi and it is expected to collect donations through mobile texting to help Agent Orange victims. Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh, VAVA’s President, called for people in the country, Vietnamese people in abroad and friends in the world to support for more than 3 million AO victims by texting DACAM to 1409. Each SMS costs VND18,000 (US$0.82). Mr.Rinh said that in response to the campaign " Action for Vietnamese AO victims" launched by Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee with the help of the Ministry of Information and Communications which set up the humanity switchboard 1409, during 4 years, the charity text message campaign has received the over 700,000 messages collecting over VND12 billion (US$ 550,050). PANO - The inaugural ceremony of the memorial site dedicated to lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho, an intellectual of the revolution of Vietnam, took place in Ben Luc town, Ben Luc district, Long An province, on July 29. On the occasion, the site was recognized as a national relic site. Built at a cost of VND 60 billion, the 10,000 s.q.m memorial site includes a memorial house, a gallery-library, a park and other facilities. When opened to the public, the site is hoped to be an important place to help educate the patriotic tradition for locals, to be a typical cultural structure and a tourist spot in Long An province. Red Cross Society sends relief to Quang Ninh

Each family with a member killed in the flooding received 3 million VND (137.5 USD) while local affected households were offered some 200 relief packages, including a set with a blanket and mosquito-net, water tank, cookware and Aquatabs water purification tablets. A VRCS delegation headed by Vice President and General Secretary Doan Van Thai visited Quang Ninh later the same day to examine the flood damage and local relief needs.
