Vietnam intends increasing ethnic minority deputies in new parliament

VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam aims to increase the number of ethic minority deputies at the 14th National Assembly (NA) so that the assembly has appropriate representation from all social strata. Ethnic minorities have been encouraged to participate in the NA during recent tenures. The rate of parliamentarians from ethnic minorities was 17.33 percent of the 450 deputies in the 10th NA, 17.27 percent of the 498 deputies in the 11th term, and 17.6 percent of the 493 deputies in the following NA. In the 13th NA, 15.5 percent of the 500 parliamentarians were ethnic minorities. VFFCC supports fishermen in Ha Tinh province

PANO – Vice President Le Ba Trinh led a May 3rd delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) to visit and present gifts to fishermen affected by the mass fish deaths in Ha Tinh province. So far, the province has supported affected fishery households with VND 750 million in total and gave 15 kg of rice/month to each affected fisherman in the region for 45 days. For this occasion, VFFCC handed VND 1 billion to the provincial authority to help local fishermen overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives. The delegation also visited and presented gifts to the five worst hit households in Ky Ha commune, Ky Anh town. Airlines, coach operators to add services on holiday Airlines as well as coach and train services operators will increase services during the long holiday of Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) to meet rising demand. Vietjet said it will operate 140 more flights from on April 28 to May 4, bringing the total daily services to 246, up a staggering 66% against the same period last year. The no-frills carrier will add four flights a day to the HCMC-Danang run and two daily services to each of HCMC-Phu Quoc, Hanoi-Phu Quoc and Hanoi-Danang routes. With frequency increases, the airline's daily flights will be 21 for the HCMC-Hanoi route, five for each of HCMC-Hue and Hanoi-Cam Ranh, six for HCMC-Vinh, six to seven for HCMC-Haiphong, and three for each of HCMC-Thanh Hoa and Hanoi-Dalat. Public services get positive ratings

Hanoi, April 27 (VNA) – A survey publicised on April 26 by the Ministry of Home Affairs found that people in 10 selected Vietnamese provinces and cities are generally satisfied with local public administrative services. The survey was conducted in 2014 and the first six months of 2015 to calculate the Satisfaction Index of Public Administration Services (SIPAS). It was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the Vietnam Veterans’ Association. The survey measured people’s satisfaction with six administrative services: the granting of identification cards, land use certificates, house building permits, marriage certificates, birth certificates, and the certification process. Those procedures are closely related to people’s daily lives, and represent both simple and complex administration services. Third consultation round approves 1,121 candidates for NA election

Central agencies and localities across the country have completed the third consultation round, approving 1,121 eligible candidates to run for the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA). The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s Presidium approved a list of 197 candidates from central organisations and agencies, while 735 other candidates were voted through at the third consultation meetings in provinces and cities. The number of candidates for provincial and municipal People’s Councils is 6,462 people. Provinces having high rate of NA candidates from ethnic minority groups include Lai Chau, Lang Son, Kon Tum and Lao Cai while Vinh Phuc, Quang Ngai and Ca Mau boast a high rate of women candidates. Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Vice President Tran Thanh Man had 100 percent of the vote in favour of his assignment to take over as Vice President and General Secretary of the 8th tenure (2014-2019). The vote took place at a session convened by the VFFCC in Hanoi on April 14 to adopt the appointment of presidium posts and committee members. According to Politburo Member and VFFCC President Nguyen Thien Nhan, Man was introduced by the Politburo to replace Vu Trong Kim whose retirement begins on October 1.
