Vietnamese-Australian pianist and music producer Nguyen Van Anh will perform at HCM City's Opera House on December 13 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.

Early 20th century glass paintings of HN on display As many as 60 coloured photos printed on glass by French photographer Leon Busy, featuring Ha Noi from 1914-17, will be displayed tonight at L'Espace, 24 Trang Tien Street. Titled "Ha Noi Colours 1914-17", the exhibition is divided into two themes, "Daily Life - Handicrafts and Society" and "Environment and Beliefs." The exhibition was created by historian Emmanuel Poisson from Paris Diderot University and ethnologist Dinh Trong Hieu from France's National Science Research Centre. During the exhibition, ten black and white documentaries about Ha Noi during the same period will be screened. The exhibition will run until January 4, 2014. The final stage of the Ho Chi Minh Television Cup cycling racewith total length of 165 kilometers from Bao Loc city to Ho Chi Minh City closed successfully on occasion of marking the 40th anniversary of the southern liberation and the country’s reunification day. Accordingly, the winner of the final stage was Nguyen Quoc Dung from Ben Tre team, and the yellow jersey went to VUS- HCMC team’s racer Nguyen Truong Tai. Asian women’s beach volleyball championship opens in Ha Long

The 2015 Tuan Chau-Ha Long Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship kicked off on April 30 at the Tuan Chau International Entertainment Arena in the northern coastal city of Ha Long, Quang Ninh province. The annual tournament, which this year is celebrating the Ha Long-Quang Ninh Tourism Week 2015, is one of two main events of the Asian Beach Volleyball Federation. The event attracted the participation of 18 teams from 10 countries and territories: Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Thailand, Vanuatu and Vietnam. Annual cycling tourney crosses finishing line

The 27th annual Ho Chi Minh City Television Cycling Tournament concluded on April 30, with riders taking on the final 165km stage from Bao Loc city in Lam Dong province to Ho Chi Minh City’s Thong Nhat Square. The winner of the final stage was Nguyen Quoc Dinh from the Ben Tre province team, followed by Nguyen Hoang Thai from team Dorgalic Dong Thap and Ho Hoang Son from Thanh Son Hoa Nong. The tourney’s yellow jersey went to Nguyen Truong Tai of team VUS Ho Chi Minh City. The second and third places were secured by Ho Van Phuc from team ADC Vinh Long Television and Nguyen Hoang Giang from team Hat ngoc troi An Giang. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Head of the National Organizing Board for big events in the 2014-2015 period; Minister of National Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh; Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai and delegates from central and local agencies attended the rehearsal. 84 racers of the 27th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup Cycling Tournament, on April 20, completed the 10th stage of Da Nang - Quang Ngai with 133km. ​ On this stage, racer Nguyen Quoc Dinh (Ben Tre province) finished first with 3h08'40 at average speed of 42.297km/h and followed by Nguyen Minh Viet (VTV Binh Duong) and Nguyen Hoang Giang (Ang Giang). Cyclists will start their 11th stage Quang Ngai - Quy Nhon on April 21 with the distance of 179km. The 27th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup Cycling Tournament (April 11th to 30th) attracted 84 Cyclists from 12 best cycling teams throughout the country and the national team. They will compete in 19 stages with a total distance of over 2,100km along the country. Duc Tuan’s show celebrates reunification

Pop star Duc Tuan will perform revolutionary music at his latest live show Bai Ca Khong Quen tonight.

VietNamNet Bridge – Popular pop singer Duc Tuan will stage a solo performance in HCM City tonight (April 21), singing popular revolutionary songs to celebrate the country's Reunification Day on April 30. The show called Bai Ca Khong Quen (Forever Songs) also aims to mark his 15 years of singing. Tuan will perform with support from his younger colleagues, Hien Thuc, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Nguyen Ngoc Anh and Ngoc Mai, who share his love of music. After spending months to prepare for the show, Tuan said he was confident he could win over the city's fans, including professional singers and music critics. The annual HTV Awards 2015 honoring popular artists who have contributed the most to the development of the channel during the year in the categories of stage, cinema and music was held at the Ho Chi Minh City Television Theater on April 4. After a three-month voting process, HTV awards 2015 were given out to the city's favorite singers and actors. In the TV category, actress Ngan Khanh and actor Luong The Thanh won the Favorite Actress and Actor honors respectively. In the theater category, the Best Dramatic Actress title went to veteran Le Phuong. Truong Giang won the "Best comedian" award and Phuong Loan was named the most favorite cai luong (southern folk opera) artist. PANO - Cyclists from 12 best cycling teams throughout the country and the national team will take part in the 27th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup Cycling Tournament from April 11th to 30th, announced the Ho Chi Minh Television at a press conference on April 1st. Accordingly, participants will compete in 19 stages with a total distance of over 2,100km along the country. In the first stage on April 11th in Hanoi, cyclists will go 25 laps (42.5km) around Hoan Kiem Lake. The last stage starts from Bao Loc town, Lam Dong province and finishes in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30th. New TV series features navy soldiers on HCM City Television

The Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) began broadcasting a new TV series featuring the life and love of navy soldiers who are stationed in the seas and islands of Vietnam on February 14. The 30-part film, Tinh Yeu Bien Dao (Love for the Seas and Islands), focuses on three young soldiers of the Naval Institute, Phong, Dang and Van, who face challenges to achieve results in work. The film also includes live footage of the daily life of soldiers and people stationed in Truong Sa (Spartly Islands). The HTV's film staff spent a year filming in the seas and islands of Kien Giang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Con Dao. "We met the soldiers of the Navy High Command and Nha Trang Naval Institute, and tried to make their work come alive through our film," said the film's director Tran Chi Thanh. Labour exports off to rip-roaring start The Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB) has revealed that Vietnam sent 8,669 guest workers to foreign markets in January, accounting for 9.13% of the target set for the entire year. Taiwan was the nation’s largest export market, receiving 5,136 workers, followed by Japan (1,926), Malaysia (679), Saudi Arabia (437), the Republic of Korea (114), Macao (101) and other markets. In 2015, the DOLAB has set an annual plan to send 100,000 Vietnamese labourers abroad. Supporting disadvantaged children in Tet festival The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans and some other agencies launched a programme in Hanoi on February 4 to help disadvantaged children enjoy a happy spring. Bach Mai Hospital to remain open during Tet The Ha Noi-based Bach Mai Hospital, one of the central hospitals in the country, will for the first time operate as usual during Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival. PhD Duong Duc Hung, head of the hospital's general affairs and planning department, has said that the hospital will operate four consulting rooms to receive patients during the nine-day Tet holiday. In the renal department, all health staff will work as usual to ensure that none of terminally-ill patients suffer body swelling due to a long wait for treatment or shortage of drugs. The hospital will also open one more emergency room, mobilise four health staff teams and arrange ten more beds. Doctors and nurses will be on duty round-the-clock on these days, Hung said. A delegation led by Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, paid a visit and gave financial aid to public works in Ben Tre and Tra Vinh provinces on February 5. The delegation handed over VND10 billion to build three rural roads; and support capital for repairing 10 gratitude houses in Tra Vinh. The delegation also offered VND 9.2 billion to build three rural roads, expand water supply system for 1,300 households and build 3,897 toilets in Ben Tre on the same day.
