NA approves amendments to the law and ordinance building programme

The Hanoitimes - The National Assembly (NA) on May 30 passed a resolution on amendments to the law and ordinance building programme for the legislature's 13th tenure and the law and ordinance building programme for 2015. The debate will be broadcast live on national television and radio channels. Accordingly, by the end of the 8th session, the NA will focus on building important laws, especially those relating to organizational structure to meet the requirements of social management as declared in the revised Constitution which was approved last year. Earlier on the day's morning session, the NA listened to proposals and verification reports on draft revisions to the Law on the NA Organisation. Later, the deputies gave their opinions on contentious matters in the draft revisions to the Law on Customs and the Law on Environmental Protection. Nhan Dan Online - The National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) continued its 21st session in Hanoi on September 12. The NASC discussed the results of the votes of confidence in the NA and in People's Councils at all levels as well as preparations for the sixth session of the 13th NA. According to a report presented by Nguyen Thi Nuong, Head of NA Committee for Deputies' Affairs, the NA completed its tasks of representing people across the country to cast the votes of confidence on 47 officials. Accordingly, no senior leaders had over 50% of low-confidence vote. The votes of confidence both in the NA and People's Councils at all levels were conducted in an open, transparent and objective manner; and the results basically reflected the overall socio-economic, security and defense situation of the country, she said. Vietnam, Laos discuss raising deputies’ capacity

A delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA)'s Committee for Deputy Affairs is visiting Laos from August 4-8 to discuss measures to raise deputies' capacity. On August 5, the delegation, led by head of the committee Nguyen Thi Nuong, was received in Vientiane by Vice President of the Lao NA Somphan Phengkhammy, who stressed the practical and significant support of the Vietnamese NA for its Lao counterpart in many fields, especially in training officials. He also expressed his hope that the two sides will intensify effective cooperation, contributing to nurturing the Vietnam-Laos special friendship. Nuong informed the Lao host of Vietnam's socio-economic situation as well as the outcomes of her working session with the Lao NA's training centre. Top Sri Lankan politician visits Viet Nam for talks The Speaker of Sri Lanka's Parliament, Chamal Rajapaksa, arrived in Ha Noi yesterday, July 14, at the beginning of a six-day official visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
