Leading role of the Party in elections should be understood

Vietnamese people are free to decide who to vote for in elections

PANO – Elections of deputies for the 14th National Assembly (NA) and people’s councils at all levels are coming. On cyber forums and websites, political opportunists, self-styled "democratic activists", and hostile forces are increasing their activities to sabotage the Vietnamese people’s major national festive event. Domestic reactionaries, in collaboration with hostile overseas forces, use various malicious attempts to distort information to mislead people about the role of the Communist Party of Vietnam in building the socialist rule-of-law State and in directing the upcoming elections. Some allege that the Party’s leadership in elections is a "systematic breach of the Constitution." They argue irrationally that: "By leading elections over the past 70 years, the Party has violated all five Vietnamese Constitutions of 1946, 1959, 1980, 1992 and 2013." Those who call themselves scholars claim that the Party’s leadership over the State and society … [Read more...]

Facts show that reactionary and hostile forces increase the intensity, form and number of their activities against the Vietnamese revolution whenever Vietnam holds a major national event. Therefore, it is necessary for the whole political system, including the armed forces, to sharpen the alert and heighten the resolve to deny hostile plots, attempts and activities. First, all Vietnamese people should understand that the goal of reactionary and hostile forces is to change … [Read more...]
