(CPV) – An aviation insurance contract for a fleet of 82 aircraft was signed in Hanoi on January 16 between the Vietnam national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and a consortium of PetroVietnam Insurance Joint Stock Company (PVI), Vietnam Aviation Insurance Joint Stock Company (VNI) and Bao Viet Insurance Joint Stock Corporation.
The contract, valued at USD4 billion, provides types of insurance according to international norms, as well as related regulations in order to ensure safety for Vietnam Airlines aircraft during their worldwide flights such as aircraft body insurances; liability insurance for passengers, luggage, cargo, third parties’ bodily injury and property; coverage under term AVN52E and exceeding AVN52E’s limit; and war risks.
“This signed insurance contract has confirmed the quality, safety and management levels of Vietnam Airlines. Domestic and international passengers can now have total trust while travelling with us, a member of SkyTeam. Insurance service providers will enhance our capacity in emergency cases”, said Vietnam Airlines CEO and Chairman Pham Ngoc Minh.
In the last several years, besides doing its utmost to become a leading airline in the region, together with the modernization of its fleet, Vietnam Airlines is also focused on aviation insurance, thus satisfying increased demand of passengers./.
