Soc Trang: Thousands of people hustle for ID card

VietNamNet Bridge – After more than a week enjoying the lunar New Year, thousands of people in the southern province of Soc Trang went to the local police bureau to get identity cards before getting back to work in Ho Chi Minh City. Meanwhile, in the neighboring provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Hau Giang … there were only a few hundred of people seeking ID cards.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Thu, to get their ID cards,  people only have to pay VND15,000 dong ($0.6) for a portrait.   Thu said a lot of people get ID cards in the early of the year   because many of them lost their ID cards or their ID cards  are too old.
