Prime Minister Dung applauds fine Vietnam-Japan relations

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tqan Dung has said that relations between Vietnam and Japan are at the best of times based on stronger political trust. He made the remark at Sunday’s meeting with Vietnamese embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Prime Minister Dung said Japan is ready to support Vietnam’s stance on development policies, sovereignty and territorial sovereignty. Economically, Japan is Vietnam’s biggest ODA provider over the past 20 years and biggest foreign investor with investment capital totaling 35 billion USD. He asked embassy staff to make greater efforts in further strengthening political and diplomatic relations and deepening mutual understanding between the two countries’ people. Prime Minister Dung also underlined the need to boost economic and trade links by offering favorable conditions for businesses to seek investment opportunities in each other’s market. He said: “We should continue to boost political, economic, trade, investment, and tourism cooperation for mutual benefit. Japan is implementing the Abenomics and Vietnam is also restructuring our economy so we should boost economic cooperation to support one another.”

The same day, Prime Minister Dung received former Japanese Prime Minister Hatoyama Yukio. He praised Yukio’s important contributions to consolidating relations between Vietnam and Japan and hoped that Yukio will continue to support and contribute to the two countries’ strategic partnership. Prime Minister Dung also received President of the Nikkei newspaper Tsuneo Kita.
