The Hai Duong provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on 26 and 27 December held the provincial Vovinam Tournament for youngsters and teenagers in 2013.
Many combat matches of young male athletes took place interestingly
This is the first time the province has organized the tournament.
The tourney lured nearly 150 athletes of six units, including the districts of Nam Sach, Cam Giang, Kinh Mon, Gia Loc, and Binh Giang and Hai Duong city.
All of the units gathered the athletes to train for a long time; thus, their quality was relatively good.
The athletes competed in combat and performance events for young and teenage age groups.
In the combat event, the teenagers (male and female) were divided into six weight divisions from under 42 kg to 60 kg, the youngsters (male and female) seven weight classes from over 45 kg to 60 kg.
The combat matches took place fairly drastically with athletes performing typical techniques and attacks of Vovinam.
Regarding final results in the teenage group, Hai Duong city’s athletes winning first prizes were Nguyen Anh Tai (boys’ under 45 kg), Nguyen Van Khanh (boys’ 48 – 51 kg), and Pham Duc Viet (boys’ 54 – 57 kg); three athletes of Kinh Mon district grabbing first prizes were Chu Van Quyet (boys’ 57 – 60 kg), Nguyen Thi Lan Anh (girls’ 42 – 45 kg), and Mac Thi Thu Cuc (girls’ 45 – 48 kg).
In the young group, Kinh Mon district had three first prize winners, namely Nguyen Van Dat (boys’ 48 – 51 kg), Nguyen Duc Anh (boys’ 51 – 54 kg), and Vu Thi Huyen (girls’ 48 – 51 kg). Other champions were Tran Duc Phi (Binh Giang) in the boys’ 45 – 48 kg, Nguyen Van Dung (Cam Giang) in the boys’ 54 – 57 kg, Nguyen Huu Truong (Nam Sach) in the boys’ 57 – 60 kg, and Ngo Thi Ha Trang (Hai Duong city) in the girls’ 45 – 48 kg category.
Kinh Mon district triumphed in the performance event, followed by Nam Sach district.
