On October 7, the state funeral committee organized the 1st meeting with its members and leaders of relevant ministries and sectors and the General’s family to come to consensus on the plan to hold the solemn memorial to General Vo Nguyen Giap.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the funeral committee’s organising board to make careful and detailed preparations for the state funeral of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
He stressed that the ceremonies will be held with the deep gratitude and special sentiments of the Party and State, the army and the people, along with international friends, in recognition of the General’s great contributions to the country’s revolutionary cause.
It is also necessary to ensure security and safety in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Binh province – the General’s homeland – during the services, he added.
At the meeting, representatives of some relevant ministries and sectors, Quang Binh Province, the Vietnam Association of War Veterans and the General’s family reported their plans to collaborate with the organising board to hold the two-day ceremony to be held on October 12-13, 2013.
