(VOVworld) – APEC Leaders concluded their meeting in Bali on Tuesday by issuing a declaration under the theme: “Resilient Asia-Pacific, engine of global growth.” They also issued an accompanying statement on Supporting the Multilateral Trading System and the 9th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization. This reflected a strong commitment by member economies to resuscitate confidence in the multilateral trade system and revive world economic growth. The declaration highlighted new directions for promoting infrastructure, institutional and people to people connectivity towards sustainable growth with equity. Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh: “Strengthening cooperation to promote sustainable development with equity has been a priority at this year’s APEC meeting. This is the first time APEC leaders endorsed an APEC Food Security Road Map Towards 2020, an APEC Initiative on Mainstreaming Ocean-related Issues while boosting cooperation in tackling food, water and energy challenges. This will help member economies in their efforts to restructure the growth model to cope with global challenges”.
The leaders appreciated the offers of Viet Nam to host the 25th APEC Summit in 2017.
