VGP – Japan tops other Official Development Assistance (ODA) providers for Viet Nam as its annual amount has hit US$ 1.8 billion.
This was hailed at a seminar “Viet Nam-Japan: 40 years of cooperation and development” held on August 23 in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
Viet Nam is an attractive destination for Japanese investors and the number of Japanese investors coming to Viet Nam has steadily increased, stated Japan’s Consul-General Hida Harumitsu.
Japanese investors invested US$5.1 billion and US$4 billion in 2012 and the first half of 2013, respectively, in the Southeast Asian country.
Currently, 18 Japanese-invested projects have been realized in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province with total capital of US$1.7 billion.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Business Association of Ho Chi Minh City has to date gathered 643 members.
As of July this year, total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of Japan has reached US$ 32.78 billion in more than 2,000 projects.
