The Cambodian National Election Committee (NEC) on Monday announced the preliminary result of the election of the 5th Parliament. The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) won 3.2 million votes in the parliament. It is followed by the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) with 3 million votes, and the remaining going to six other parties. The NEC has not yet released a definitive total number of seats each party reached. According to the result, CPP will continue its rule. Complaints against the results, the NEC said, must be filed within 72 hours. NEC Secretary General Tep Nytha said the final results will be announced before September 8.
