Vietnam finishes third at AIMAG 2013

Four gold medals earned on the last day (July 6) of the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) helped Vietnam finish third behind China and hosts South Korea.

Three kick-boxers Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, and Nguyen Van Su on Saturday reached the final and all won to bring home three last gold medals for the kick-boxing team while the chess team including star Quang Liem beat rival China 3-1 in the final of the blitz chess event.

After 8 days of competition, China tops the medal tally with 29 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals, followed by South Korea with 21 gold, 27 silver and 19 bronze medals.

Vietnam ranks third with eight gold medals, 7 silver, and 12 bronze. Despite having the same 8 gold medals like Vietnam, Thailand finishes fourth because of having less silver and bronze medals.

The 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games that took place from June 29 to July 6 attracted 1,750 athletes from 44 countries.
