The Hanoitimes – A national hip hop contest will be held in the capital this weekend, bringing together more than 1,700 dancers from throughout the country, according to organisers.
Six competing categories are available for the teams to choose: breaking, popping, hiphop, locking, waacking and house. The breaking category will be contested by the most teams (53, with two dancers each team). The newly-introduced house category will be entered by eight individual dancers.
Both amateur and professional dancers of all ages and nationalities are welcome. The first contest season was the brainchild of Big Toe Crew, the oldest and leading hip hop dance group in Vietnam. This year, it is being organised by the Vietnamese Recreational and Electronic Sport Association.
