(VEN) – Over recent years, the central province of Binh Dinh has become one of the country’s leading wooden furniture production and processing centers for export.
In 2013, the provincial industry and trade sector has continued to use this advantage, targeting to raise provincial production value to VND8.860 trillion, a year on year increase of 10 percent.
According to director of the Binh Dinh provincial industry and trade department Nguyen Kim Phuong, in the first quarter of this year, Binh Dinh Province actively removed difficulties for wooden furniture enterprises to help them stabilize production and encouraged them to take the initiative in business and production activities such as investing in equipment, and new technologies and expand their consumption markets. Many enterprises have signed contracts and many processed products have posted relatively high growth compared with the same period last year, like titanium increased by 21 percent, frozen shrimp up by 15.8 percent, garments up by 20.9 percent, footwear up by 31 percent, wood shavings up by 16.3 percent, refined standard sugar up by 10.7 percent, cassava up by 8.2 percent and animal feed up by 8.9 percent.
A number of domestic and foreign companies have also built plants for production, processing and distribution of animal and cattle feed in the province. For example, a branch of CP Vietnam Corporation has a productivity of 200,000 tonnes per year; a branch of Greenfeed Viet Nam JSC has a productivity of 220,000 tonnes per year in the first phase and 300,000 tonnes per year in the second phase; a branch of New Hope Company has a productivity of 200,000 tonnes per year and Cargill Vietnam Co Ltd with a productivity of 60,000 tonnes per year.
Also in the first quarter of 2013, total retail and service value reached VND9.379 trillion, a year on year increase of 14.4 percent. Trade promotion and discount programs were constantly held. Market stabilization operations were also actively implemented, meeting the local consumer demand.
In terms of exports, the provincial export revenue during the period reached US$136 million, up by 4.1 percent. Of which, export revenue of agricultural products was estimated at US$34.8 million up by 34.4 percent and of seafood products up by 2.6 percent, reaching US$10.7 million. The province has efficiently implemented the project to develop export goods by 2015, with vision until 2020 and completed the project to improve the competitiveness of agro-forestry and fishery products and service sectors for export. In addition, it encouraged enterprises to boost production, maintain traditional markets, expand the available markets and explore new markets with a high concentration on the domestic market.
Binh Dinh has also provided more support to local businesses in their trade promotion activities on furniture e-commerce exchanges and connected trade promotion activities through associations and national trade promotion programs to promote the image of local businesses and find new markets.
To maintain the industrial production growth rate, the province is coordinating with related departments and sectors to continue implementation of Resolution 02/NQ-CP on a number of solutions to remove difficulties for business production, market support and handling of bad debts. In addition, it will carry out combined operations to organize the second Vietnam Wood Furniture and Forest Product Fair 2013 in Quy Nhon City as well as other “Bring Vietnamese goods to the countryside” programs./.
