PANO – Within the framework of the ongoing ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting – Plus Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief/ Military Medicine Exercise in Brunei, military leaders and representatives from 18 countries participating in the exercise visited and inspected the participating units.
The Vietnamese delegation joining this event included Lieutenant General Tran Quang Khue, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army, Major General Ha Ngoc Hoa, Deputy Head of Office of Command of the General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army and Major General Vu Quoc Binh, Head of Military Department, Ministry of National Defence.
The leaders and representatives listened to briefings about the activities of the Multi-national Coordination Centre. This centre gives commands to forces involved in the exercise and is responsible for the planning and implementation of the exercise.
After that, the leaders visited level-2 hospitals located at Muara Naval Base. According to the scenario of the exercise, military medical forces have to provide first aid and surgeries for thousands of victims of a natural disaster.
The military leaders highly appreciated the cooperation capacity of the forces from different countries in the exercise.
On the same day, the Vietnamese delegation visited the US and Japanese naval ships participating in the exercise.
