PANO – The working delegation of the Defence Ministry, led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Defence Minister on June 8th worked with the Military Zone 9 Command to review their tasks of national defence and drug-related crime prevention.
Over the past years, the command has invested in communication, media, health, transport and military projects to ensure security in the area and organized defence-security training courses for local people.
The command’s units have helped build political basis in communes, worked with other units to effectively and synchronously carry out policies for beneficiaries and needy people as well as found and repatriated more than 5,900 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who had sacrificed serving the international obligation in Cambodia.
General Cung praised good results of Military Zone 9’s Armed Forces over the past time and took notes of the command’s recommendations. The Deputy Defence Minister also asked the command to work with provinces and cities in the southwestern region to carry out defence-security tasks, keep track of local situations, promote political basis as well as build strong whole people defence.
