He was speaking to HCMC Vice Chairman Nguyen Huu Tin at a meeting on Thursday on the occasion of his visit to Vietnam.
He suggested HCMC develop more appropriate policies and institutions to receive financial support from the WB. To do so, the municipal leaders should have profound knowledge and the WB can send their specialists over to help the city, he said.
The projects in two important areas, environment and public traffic, were discussed at the meeting on Thursday.
Tin expressed his gratitude to the WB for its support to HCMC to build bus rapid transits and hoped the global lender would further assist the city in solving the traffic problem.
