A series of cultural activities such as a drum show, Bon-Odori dance performance, street festival, folk games and food fair will take place at Go Dau Stadium in Binh Duong Province on June 1.
The highlight of the program is a friendship football match between Japanese team Kawasaki Frontale (J-League) and Becamex Binh Duong FC (V-League) at 7 p.m., the Japanese Consulate General in HCMC said in a statement.
Apart from competing, Japanese players will have an exchange with audiences to the match.
The opening ceremony will also feature a music performance by Vietnamese singers Thu Minh and Dong Nhi, a place for kids to play football, and a sale of Japanese products.
The next day, Kawasaki Frontale will meet 60 primary school children from Dong Nai Province and 60 Japanese students from HCMC at Dong Nai Stadium in Bien Hoa City. They will give students techniques and skills of playing football.
All the activities come as the two countries are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
