Director of Vietnam Alkaline Refractory Factory Nguyen Minh Truyen said thanks to serious implementation of occupational health and safety and fire prevention measures so far the factory had not had to deal with any fatal occupational accidents. Employee working conditions had been guaranteed by a stable and productive environment at the factory, and workers earned over VND210 billion in 2011.
Every year, Vietnam Alkaline Refractory Factory collaborates with Bac Ninh’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to carry out the National Week for Occupational Safety and Health and Fire Prevention with the aim to raise employee awareness and capability about occupational accidents and fire prevention during the production process.
Head of the factory’s Administration and Personnel Department Phan Van Quy said apart from raising awareness among the workforce, the factory also pays great attention to the promotion of training programs concerning workplace safety and fire prevention. Under the instructions of a group of occupational safety specialists, so far over 160 workers in the factory are regularly trained in necessary occupational accidents and fire prevention skills, with a dozen having been granted occupational safety cards.
Regular and serious implementations of regulations concerning work safety has helped prevent the factory from electrical short circuits or explosions due to bad operational techniques caused by downgraded machines. The factory has checked over 165 pieces of equipment that have met strict work safety requirements, carried out environmental monitoring inside and outside the factory twice a year and conducted a safety audit of the workplace environment once a year.
The factory also pays special attention to employee health. It collaborates with the Hospital of Construction (Ministry of Construction) and other local hospitals to provide regular medical examinations for the workforce, then releases appropriate guidance to provide support, offer cures and improve employee health.
Nguyen Minh Truyen confirmed that over recent years the factory had always followed all the regulations of the State and Party relating to occupational health and safety. In the coming time, the factory will continue raising occupational safety awareness among the whole workforce while introducing a system of rewards and punishments as a motivating factor./.
