The 21st Charming Vietnam Gala was initially planned to kick off this May in Ho Chi Minh City’s Hoa Binh Theater and Vinpearl Land in the central coastal city of Nha Trang.

The move is hoped to allow for more preparation and to invite additional artists to the popular charity event, organizers said.

The gala is still expected to be held at the Hoa Binh Theater on December 31, 2009 and January 1-3, 2010.

Organizers said they hoped the audience and artists would continue to support the postponement.

Charming Vietnam debuted in 1994 and was taken to Canberra and Sydney in Australia in 2005, Singapore in 2007 and London in 2008.

The music and variety festival is held to raise money for the Thanh Nien-initiated Vietnam Talent Fund and Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship Fund, which grants scholarships to both deserving poor and outstanding students.

Charming Vietnam membership cards can be purchased for VND30 million (US$1,696), VND20 million ($1,130) and VND10 million ($565) until the end of this year with proceeds going toward the two charity funds.
