The planting took place in Lang Co Town, Phu Loc District, as part of a project initiated by the Japanese-owned AEON Environmental Foundation.

Covering two hectares, the planting aims to create a varied ecosystem to preserve biodiversity as well as reduce greenhouse emissions and climate change, it said.

More than 70,000 trees have been planted under the project, which began three years ago and is going to wrap up this year, according to the newspaper.

The foundation was established in 1991 by Japan’s AEON Corporation.
